Is It Time to Replace Your Micro Purse With a Pouch?

Admit it, you can’t fit anything in that Jacquemus Le Chiquito. The teensy It bag has become a favorite of stars like Rihanna and Kylie Jenner but as good as it looks on social media, the Chiquito and the multiple micro purses it has inspired aren’t practical. While the case can be made for editing down your possessions so that they fit wpetite size, sometimes it’s nice to have an accessory that fits more than your cell phone. Enter Bottega Veneta’s latest: the Pouch.

Introduced as part of creative director Daniel Lee’s debut collection, the oversize clutch quickly developed a following with the street style regulars like Pernille Teisbaek and Tamu McPherson, both of whom wore theirs on Instagram. Hollywood stars followed suit and the bag became summer’s sleeper hit. Early adopter Rosie Huntington Whiteley incorporated tan and cream versions into her online outfit updates, pairing hers with draped dresses from Odderside or slinky wrap tops from Paris Georgia.

Always ahead of a trend Paloma Elsesser wore hers to toast Lee’s pre-Fall collection at a special cocktail hour back in in June. Victoria’s Secret Angel Elsa Hosk went for business chic in her posts, wearing a Jacquemus blazer and J. Brand jeans last week before taking the look to the streets in Dior clogs and a tan crop top. Fellow VS star Lily Aldridge followed suit a few days later, pairing one of Isabel Marant’s versatile jumpsuits with caramel colored pouch.

Supermodel endorsements aside, the Pouch’s buttery leather and roomy size make it an ideal summer bag. When you’ve got to be carting around sunscreen, a tablet, and any other odds and ends, you need a bag that can handle it. At over 15 inches long, it’s big enough to fit anything—you can even throw a mini bag in there, if you’re not quite ready to let go.
