Kylie Jenner Has a Twinning Moment in Rick Owens

Keeping Up the Kardashians may be ending, but the family’s fashion influence remains strong. On social media, it’s still business as usual for the Kardashian-Jenner clan. Yesterday moments before the announcement of their show’s demise, another winning outfit came directly from their inner circle. Model and Kylie companion Anastasia “Stassie” Karanikolaou regularly updates her social media accounts with twinning snapshots of herself and her beauty mogul best friend. Still, the pair’s latest matching-moment on Instagram may be their best yet. Decked out in coordinated draped satin dresses from Rick Owens, Jenner and Karanikolaou diverged from their slinky aesthetic and took on the designer’s grunge meets goth look. With Jenner in a dove grey floor-length satin gown and Karanikolaou in its all-black counterpart, they were on the same wavelength.

While matching makes for great Instagram posts, the idea of best friends twinning can read corny in real life. Jenner and Karanikolaou enjoy doubling up on their statement pieces, and yet after wearing identical Prada bucket hats, Playboy bunny costumes, Saks Potts coats, and (of course) Skims, their preferred gimmick was in danger of becoming stale. Luckily, they opted for Owens’s draped dresses instead of flashier fare. With their clean lines and minimalist sensibility, the designer’s pieces work in multiple colorways, even when placed side by side. The addition of his Performa high tops contributed to the understated feel, their elevated take on the Converse Chuck Taylor a luxury sneaker moment in itself. Despite their perfectly coiffed hair and head-to-toe designer fit, Jenner and Karanikolaou managed to convey a sense of ease. It’s only a matter of time before the duo reverts to the skintight, overtly sexy style they both carry off so well, but that makes their foray into cool girl territory all the more appealing.
