Riverdale is getting musical once again.

Today, The CW announced that the series would feature another musical episode this time centered around Heathers: The Musical, based on the iconic 1989 film starring Winona Ryder and Christian Slater as murderous high schoolers.

“Last year, we had a blast doing Carrie. This year, we wanted to honor another iconic teen movie. Heathers: The Musical is BIG FUN, with great roles for the Riverdale kids,” said executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa of the episode airing March 20. “And everyone is singing…” Hmmm does that mean Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse) will belt out a tune this time around?
The above photo is actually from the March 13 ep when Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) tells director Kevin (Casey Cott) that this year’s musical will be Heathers.
The network also debuted the cast list for the show within a show. Josie McCoy (Ashleigh Murray) and Sweet Pea (Jordan Connor) are taking on the roles originated by Ryder and Slater, respectively.

Also, for those worried that Archie Andrews (K.J. Apa) died on last night’s episode, he is apparently alive and well enough to be cast in the school musical.
