Two things stand out about the first “Spider-Man: Far From Home” trailer that dropped Tuesday.

First: Hey, Tom Holland is alive after his Spidey seemingly turned into a cloud of dust after “Avengers: Infinity War”! (Thanks, Thanos.) We’re probably going to have wait for “Avengers: Endgame” (in theaters April 26) to see how all the timelines and such shake out in “Far From Home” (July 5).

Also important: Why does Jake Gyllenhaal have a fishbowl on his head?

Gyllenhaal plays the mysterious Mysterio in the sequel to 2017’s “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” which takes Peter Parker (Holland), love interest MJ (Zendaya), best friend Ned (Jacob Batalon) and their high-school pals to Europe. While there, Peter is visited by Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) to help out with a situation involving various elemental creatures attacking cities.

At the end of the new trailer, we see Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio fly in and start blasting a gigantic water dude, giving Peter an unwanted shower in the process. One of the hero’s pals likens Mysterio to a combo of Iron Man and Thor.

But he may not be exactly a “good guy.” The Mysterio from comic books is a big-time Spidey villain and has been since the 1960s, a stuntman and FX guru who used illusions to commit crimes and ran afoul of the web-slinger. He was also a charter member of the Sinister Six with baddies like Electro, Kraven the Hunter, Sandman, Doctor Octopus and Vulture (the villain played by Michael Keaton in “Homecoming”).

Now it’s possible this take on Mysterio is just fighting the good fight and taking on Hydro-Man. (He’s a thing, look it up.) But perhaps Gyllenhaal’s character is just fighting his own elemental illusions to make him seem like a hero when he’s secretly sinister?

Whichever way he leans, Gyllenhaal looks pretty cool blasting stuff, and all will become more clear this summer, true believers!
